Helping Tuscaloosa

April 27, 2011- A deadly EF5 tornado hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama. We had events here in North Carolina to help our neighbors there-- teaming up with local news and radio and a radio correspondent in Alabama to help relief. We worked with Project Blessings and the West Alabama American Red Cross. See the smilebox for pictures of all the relief aid and personal delivery, as well as rebuilding efforts. Together we stand strong- Roll Tide.

PowerHouse Project for the Queen's Foundation

Thank you to Nadia Moffit, Miss North Carolina USA 2010 for the invitation to speak at her new foundation's event for the young ladies in North Carolina and for building self confidence and finding the beautiful queen inside all of them!!

Give A Girl A Gown 2011

Swish was the HOST store, partnering with 107.5 KZL, (where you can tune into the Murphy in the Morning Show for Julie as their official style consultant for her radio segments), and Goodwill Industries of the Triad, for Give A Girl A Gown 2011! They collected gowns from all over to donate to Goodwill so EVERY girl would have a DRESS for PROM! Swish collected so many gowns that we were able to donate and personally deliver the surplus gowns to Central High School in Tuscaloosa for their Prom in early May 2011. We also were able to help with relief efforts for the victims of the deadly tornado in Alabama and we worked directly with the West Alabama Red Cross-- raising over $5,000 in two days and sending down two full trailer loads of supplies to Project Blessings! See the smilebox slideshow for some of those pictures.
Autism Society of North Carolina 2nd Annual Run in Greensboro, NC back in November of 2010-- more information to come on their new camp outside of Raleigh and the 1st annual Gala in Greensboro for ASNC! Thanks to Heather and Kay from the organization for all their hard work!

Before I became honored to hold the title of Miss Southeast International, I was blessed to have been Miss NC International 2009!

During that year I had so many amazing experiences with over 150 events! I worked hard and stood by my platform. I wanted to share this link because I wrote about everything and shared many pictures that showcased the work and love that I partook in.

That year gave me the opportunity to reach for bigger dreams and to not give up on the chance to win the title of Miss International. I am going back having grown and learned in the time that has passed. I have been able to reach more people, to speak more and share my story, and the stories I have learned and people I have met have touched my life and shown me to continue my work and platform! So I will reach for the stars and head to Chicago to join all the other wonderful contestants who, nationwide are doing the same things I have been doing in their communities and making a difference! I cannot wait to get there and experience the chance and dream of a lifetime! XOXO
